Layer 2 blockchain Shibarium has announced breaking the 1 billion transactions milestone in just 2 years after launch. Shibarium revealed this information on its X page in the early hours of April 1, 2025. The layer two blockchain was created as a scaling solution for the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, making it fast, efficient, and cost-friendly.
Shibarium’s rapid growth was also attributed to the network’s ability to handle large transactions. Now, it has over 10 million blocks created with more than 194 million active wallets. This milestone has made Shibarium one of the fastest blockchains in the industry, and interestingly, it took Bitcoin 15 years to do the same.
However, beyond breaking the significant milestones, Shibarium is set to undergo several upgrades that will transform the layer two blockchains into a layer three roll-up hub. The hub will allow developers to deploy custom roll-ups on the network. Further, $BONE, a utility-driven token on the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, will serve as gas fees on the rollups once launched.
In addition, Shibarium intends to serve as a data availability layer, allowing multiple L3 to operate simultaneously. Meanwhile, Shiba Inu (SHIB) responded favorably to Shibarium’s success, sparking bullish sentiment among SHIB investors.
According to CoinGecko, Shiba Inu’s price has rallied to the $0.00001288 level, ranking 21st in the crypto market. While the recent uptrend wasn’t enough to push SHIB past the $0.000013 mark, analysts are optimistic that Shibarium’s growth could be pivotal in its future price performance.
